Community Pulse — April 2026

In April, AFRINIC welcomed and allocated IP resources to 21 additional organisation members from South Africa, Kenya, Egypt, Nigeria, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ghana, and Senegal. Through its work, AFRINIC contributes to the development, stability, and security of the Internet ecosystem by supporting network operators, governments, regulators, businesses, and technical communities across the continent.

The AFRINIC Board appointed the Nomination Committee (Nomcom), which will oversee the upcoming 2026 AFRINIC elections to elect:

• Three (3) Members of the Governance Committee elected by AFRINIC Resource Members in good standing.
• Two (2) Members of the NRO NC / ASO AC elected by the AFRINIC community.
• Two (2) PDP Co-Chairs selected through a consensus-based process by the AFRINIC Policy Development Working Group

The Nomcom members are:

AFRINIC marked its 21st anniversary on 8 April 2026. The AFRINIC Board Chairman relayed a touching message to the community for the occasion and encouraged all AFRINIC members and the Internet Community to continue playing an active role in the organisation’s governance.

AFRINIC launched a community consultation on its bylaws review on 18 April 2026. The Internet community was encouraged to participate in this crucial process that aims to strengthen AFRINIC’s governance framework. The Bylaws Review Committee will present the outcome of its work to the community and obtain feedback thereon during the AIS'26. The submission deadline was on 17 May 2026.
